Apple iPhone & iPad Hints / Tips

Below are some useful tips which you could help get longer and better performance from your Apple device when using your Apple iPhone / iPad.

Charging Apple Ipad or Iphone

When charging your Apple Ipad or Iphone try never to charge it to 100% as this can over charge your battery and damage it, or don't let it discharge to zero, as batteries don't like being discharged completely and can again damage the battery.

Battery Life

If your iphone's battery is running down quickly when you're not using it, try closing some of your applications which are running in the background. To do this you must press the Home Button twice and this will display all your running applications. To close these apps just swipe up!

iPad/iPhone Crashed

If your iphone / ipad has became unresponsive so that you can't press anything on the screen or that you are getting no display, try holding the Home Button and Power Button for 10 Seconds. Doing this action will force the device to restart (This will NOT Erase the device).

Screen Rotation

To rotate the home screen on your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, you must turn off Display Zoom to rotate the Home Screen, to do this go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom > Standard. Also you must make sure Orientation Lock is turned off/Unlocked, to do this you need to flick the switch on the side of your device and a lock symbol will appear (Unlocked or Locked).

iPhone / iPad Backups

Having backups of your device is handy because if anything happened to that iPad / iPhone you would still have a backup of all your data. There are two types of free backups you can do (iTunes & iCloud).

iCloud Backup: Make sure your device is connected to a Wireless network. Then go to your Settings > iCloud > Backup and make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on. Tap on Back up Now. Stay connected to the wireless network and don't turn the phone off. Once the backup is complete you can check the backup by going to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage and select your device, a list should appear with al your backups and times.

iTunes Backup: Make sure you have iTunes installed on a PC / Laptop. Also make sure iCloud is turned off. Connect your device to your computer using the apple USB lightening cable, once connected you must go to File > Devices > Back Up, this will begin to backup all data on your device.

Find my iPad / iPhone

This option allows you to relocate your device if you ever lose it. To enable this option you must be logged into your iCloud on the device. Go to Settings > iCloud > Find my iPad / iPhone and enable that option.

Cellular Status: Searching

Many issues can cause you to get this message. One of the main causes can be the date & time being wrong. Connect your device to a wireless network, once you've done that, restart the device.

Protective Casing

To help prevent your iPhone / iPad from getting damaged you can get Rubber Cases which help cuision the fall when they are dropped. You can also get a screen protector fitted (Toughened Glass) which is meant to crack before the digitizer (glass) screen smashes.
